UV laser printing has its origins in military and commercial aviation but has found its way into civil aviation in recent years. The advantage of this printing method is that the UV laser does not damage the cable and it retains its full mechanical and electrical properties. The laser changes the color of the particles already present in the insulation of the cables by rearranging their crystal structure on a microscopic level. The result is a permanent and clearly legible imprint that, unlike paint or ink, is resistant to heat, friction and other influences.
